Investing in the future: Kennedy, Pacheco look to bring life sciences center to Taunton

TAUNTON—Plans are progressing to establish a life sciences jobs training center in the next expansion of Myles Standish Industrial Park, city, state and federal officials said Monday.

U.S. Rep. Joe Kennedy III, who was recently appointed chairman of the governor’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Advisory Council, was in Taunton Monday to meet with Mayor Thomas Hoye Jr., state Sen. Marc Pacheco, D-Taunton, and officials from Mass Development. They discussed the planned life sciences training center, which they hope to build in a building that was once part of the former Paul A. Dever State School.

“I had a great meeting with a number of people who’ve been working on the project for a long time,” Kennedy said.
