AMHERST, Mass. – State Sen. Marc R. Pacheco, D-Taunton, chair of the Massachusetts Senate Committee on Global Warming and Climate Change, will speak on the Commonwealth’s climate action and future plans on the University of Massachusetts Amherst campus on Monday, April 14 at 3 p.m. in 203 Morrill Science Center.
The senator’s talk, “Massachusetts Action on Climate Change: A Discussion of the Commonwealth’s Leadership in Climate Action and Plans for the Future,” will focus on the state as a leader on green policies and clean energy practices, including passage of the Green Communities Act, the Green Jobs Act and the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2008. The last set a goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the Commonwealth 25 percent below 1990 levels by 2020 and 80 percent below 1990 levels by 2050.
