BOSTON — The head of a legislative committee on global warming introduced a bill on Tuesday that would require the state to take a comprehensive look at the effects on climate change on Massachusetts and to address it.
State Sen. Marc Pacheco, a Taunton Democrat and chairman of the Senate Committee on Global Warming and Climate Change and the bill's prime sponsor, said the purpose of the bill is to ensure that the state conducts a comprehensive analysis of the vulnerability of the state's coastal communities, infrastructure, grid system and transportation networks.
"Modest investments now in doing this plan will save us billions of dollars that could be spent in the future as a result of impending threats of climate change," Pacheco said.
