For the 32nd year, a group of Vietnam veterans from the Taunton area gathered at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fountain on Church Green to hold an overnight vigil, honoring the memories of prisoners or war and soldiers who went missing in action and never returned.
Each hour of the night on Saturday, joined by supporters from the community, the vets placed symbolic, oversized dog tags on a rope surrounding the fountain, reading off their name and where they were from.
“We have to keep this issue alive,” said Bob Silvia, president of the Taunton Area Vietnam Veterans Association. “It’s a small sacrifice to make compared to what the families of the MIAs go through every day.”
